இ 9/11 Remembered 九一一難忘 *jiǔ yī yī nánwàng*

Today is the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 the day the whole world watched in shock and horror over the monumental and devastating event in history on the soil of the greatest country on earth, America. Where were you on Sept 11 2001 and what do you remember? Bananaz was driving home when a friend called relating the event he saw on the news. When I got home the news were repeatedly on air and all I can remember was just like watching an old movie 'The Towering Inferno' on TV. Those who used to celebrate their birthdays the so called " 911s'" will never be the same any more as they have mixed feelings about 9/11. After New York 9/11.. this message was circulated, a good reminder for all even after all these 3651 days to be constantly reminded of the little things..

~The ' L I T T L E ' Things~

As you might remember, the head of a company survived 9/11 because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.

One of them missed his bus.

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.

One's car wouldn't start.

One couldn't get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man, who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today..

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone...all the little things that annoy me. I think to myself, this is exactly where G~d wants me to be at this very moment.. Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every red light, don't get mad or frustrated; it may be just that G~d is at work watching over you. May G~d continue to bless you with all those annoying little things and may you remember their possible purpose. [Author unknown].

Do you believe this "Things Happen For A Reason" can this be a proof? Sometimes things happen to you at the time that may seem horrible, painful and unfair? Do you think it is a coincidence, pure luck and a fluke or karma?

I reckon things happen for a reason what ever it maybe, those people who were delayed weren't meant to die on that fateful day, could have been karma :-).

I was watching CNN for news in the morning when I saw the tragedy unfolding before my very eyes. It was certainly a defining moment for many of us as many lives and their love ones around the world are affected. 911 uese to be an emergency response show I watched on TV. It was the turn of the new century and we had just got over the fear of the millenium bug of 2000 the year before.

This reminds me of a question I asked my grandma when I was little, "Why do chickens fight when you add a new one to the chicken pen? I thought all chickens are the SAME." My grandma said, "Why not? Even human beings fight!"

A Sun Tzu quote:
“To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.”

Can we have world peace?
Can we settle our differences by 'fighting' it out in sports or other competitions and not bloodshed?

My condolences to all those affected by the 911 tragedy. For those who perished, may their souls RIP. Finally, whatever our religions or beliefs, we must have FAITH in the Almighty to lead a meaningful life.

if i remember correctly, i was in my room that nite and a friend called and told this, switched on the tv to watch in disbelief. Everything happens for a reason so do people that we meet, the people that we are with, i also believe they are all here for a reason too.

My mum's birthday - same day as you. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ol' chum!

We came home from the birthday dinner and I saw one plane stuck in a building. I thought it was Y2K...and called everybody to watch...and imagine our horror when we saw with our own eyes the next plane flying in and hitting the other tower. Shocking!

It was a sad day not just for the US and the people involved but for the whole world and all mankind. Tragic.

Some things are best forgotten but some we would have to remember to remind ourselves and pray that it would never ever happen again.

Keep the peace and spread the love...

wow, i thought you would have mentioned a little about your birthday, but you just dedicate the whole post to 911.. yeah, it's already 10 years after that tragic!! how time passed by so quickly..

[SK] said...

yeah, it's interesting to know all those "little things", god just arranged that to make them survive by a close minute.. they must have felt so lucky.. but then on the other hand, those who has waken up earlier than they usually does, and went to office earlier might also have seen how fate decides your lives right??

[SK] said...

yeah, i like that message you bring out of this post.. it's very positive and we shall not always complain but the appreciate what we have, we won't know those little things could have save us from bigger worse situations.. :)

Does the new generation know about May 13, I wonder? It seems such a taboo to talk about it now.

Bananaz, I remember very clearly that horrible day. So much sadness and tragedy. I stood there in my living room and watched the twin towers collapse live on TV. So dreadful.

Is today your birthday? If so, I hope it was a happy one. I have another friend who has a birthday today too. I'd much rather remember this day as a happy occasion such as the birthday of a friend, but I'll never forget that tragic day of the attack.

Hope the unseen beings didnt complain about the noises or rather they welcome this big crowd coz they were lonely.
