Pokok pisang is "unisex"! It bears a banana bloom which is actually an inflorescence of rows upon rows of little banana flowers. First come the females follow by the males. Females develop to become a banana fruit while males drop off. Female flowers do not need the male's help to fertilize (pollinate) them in order to produce a baby (fruit). The SEX of the banana flower is important but having SEX is not important. See what I mean?
